Prague Castle was founded in the late 9th century and from 1158 AD was the seat of the Czech kings. Within its walls are St. Vitus' Cathedral (926 AD) and the Basilica of St. George (920 AD). Much of the original 9th and 10th century construction can be seen by the public.

The castle is still the seat of the Czech government, including the offices of the President.
